Voices from the Storm: Exhibit Design

Voices from the Storm was written by Nicholas Redding and is a permanent exhibit at the Shepherdstown Historic Museum. The exhibit interprets how the war changed five individuals in Shepherdstown. Redding wanted to have a contemporary look for the exhibit, by utilizing infographics, illustration, and artifacts. As a collaborative effort with Michael Vowell, consistency was the main challenge for the exhibit. Typographically, we used display fonts to provide the readers a bold header for the upcoming text. All of the panels were designed with a paper texture that let the typography and imagery stand out without hindering readability. The design was printed on ultra board and the windows were covered with cloth to provide longevity for the exhibit.
